PHN 9502 11 4.4.1980 ABSTRACT: Shaving apparatus. The invention relates to a shaving apparatus having an external first cutting element and an internal second cutting element which cooperates with said first element, which second element is drivable relative to the other cutting element with a reciprocating movement. In a known apparatus the first cutting element takes the form of a foil formed with apertures, and the second driven cutting element is urged against the inner side of the foil by-means of springs. A drawback of this construction is that as a result of forces occurring during shaving the foil is deformed or the driven cutting element is urged away from the foil, so that the distance between the two becomes too large for a satisfactory cutting action. This drawback is eliminated in the present invention by means of a construction in which the drivable cutting element is secured to the other cutting element by means of a connecting element which is flexible in the direction of driving and is rigid in directions extending substantially transversely of the direction of driving.
