ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A shearing machine for sheets is provided with an adjustment for the upper blade to enable accurate shearing operations to take place. Also provided is a work- piece hold down means which secures the workpiece during shearing. A scrap removal means is also provided which removes the scrap as soon as shearing has been completed thus reducing machine idle time, even when the scrap pieces are large and/or long.
