25307-197 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A recording apparatus has a cut sheet feed device for feeding sheets one by one from cassettes which are stacked one above another. Each cassette has a common sheet sub-passage pene- trating the cassette from bottom to top. The sub-passages are disposed such that the sub-passages are positioned in alignment forming a common sheet feed passage penetrating the stack of the cassettes from bottom to top when all the cassettes are set in normal positions (i.e. inserted), and individual sheet feed passages formed in the cassettes are joined to the common sheet feed passage. With the above configuration, the cassettes can be filled and jammed sheet removed by an operator working from the same side of the device, thereby saving office space.
