A B S T R A C T The invention relates to a sheet feeder of a printing machine, with the respective uppermost sheet of a sheet pile being seized at its leading end by means of suckers, lifted over the upper edge of, at least, one pile stop, and fed to a pair of transport rollers. In order to increase the reliability, when separating sheets, the sheet-pile stop features grooves extending parallel to the sheet edges of the sheets on the sheet pile.
