The invention relates to a sheet metal pump casing for centrifugal pumps in which an annular chamber (3) is disposed behind the impeller (2). Projections (8,9) are arranged at the leading and trailing edges (6,7) of the outlet opening of the annular chamber (3). These prevent wear of the outlet opening during the pumping of a medium containing an abrasive agent.
