A process for forming a rivet button from a sheet of metal (70) comprises, in a first operation forming a unitary annular bead (104) protruding from a planar surface of the sheet. In a second operation the annular bead and a planar center panel of the sheet are formed into a large diameter protrusion (116) establishing a major portion of the rivet height, and finally the large diameter protrusion is formed into a unitary rivet button (156).

L'invention concerne un procédé de formation d'un rivet à partir d'une feuille métallique (70) consistant d'abord à former un bouton annulaire monolithique (104) faisant saillie à partir d'une surface plane de la feuille. Ce procédé consiste ensuite à former le bouton annulaire et un panneau plat central de la feuille pour en faire une saillie (116) à large diamètre définissant une majeure partie de la hauteur du rivet et finalement à transformer la saillie à large diamètre en un rivet monolithique (156).
