The present invention provides an apparatus (10) for manufacturing sheet molding compound comprising a fiber processing unit (12) for forming a fiber web. The apparatus also includes a precompaction unit (34) for squeezing air out of the fiber web and a resin mixture paste dispenser (36) for applying paste to the fiber web. The apparatus functions to minimize entrapped air from the resin mixture paste and fiber web.

L'invention concerne un appareil (10) permettant de fabriquer un mélange à mouler en feuille comprenant une unité de traitement (12) de fibres permettant d'obtenir un voile de carde. L'appareil comprend aussi une unité de précompactage (34) permettant d'extraire l'air occlus dans le voile de carde et un distributeur (36) de pâte de mélange à base de résine permettant d'appliquer la pâte sur le voile de carde. L'appareil sert à réduire la quantité d'air piégé en provenance de la pâte de mélange à base de résine et du voile de carde.
