A self supporting, self reinforcing system for the assembly of precisely-cut, relatively thin sheets of material such as, polycarbonate plastic, fiberglass, stainless steel, aluminum, etc. which have had their edges folded, sealed and finally fastened together to form a curving, geodesic-like, self supporting dome structure. Such structures are used for various purposes, including storage facilities, repair shops, housing, arenas, housing, and public buildings. The laminated, joined flanges become the supporting frame. This differs with many other dome-like structures which have a common difference with the invention applied for, in that they are usually composed of a skeletal frame of various types of members, joined at hubs, and then covered by sheet sheathing, or fabric material covering the frame structure. The object of the present invention is to provide a panel system for constructing curved, geodesic-like structures of various shapes and sizes that can achieve a higher strength with a much simpler and more cost-effective construction than heretofore known.
