SHIELDED AND SEALED LUMINAIRE Abstract of the Disclosure There is provided a lighting fixture which is adapted for use in corrosive environments. The lighting fixture is provided with a high intensity gaseous discharge optical assembly mounted within a housing of the lighting fixture. Covering an opening of the housing in sealed relationship therewith is a lens. A novel corrosive resisting shielding device is secured above and in overlapping relation with the housing and lens so as to shield the housing and lens from descending corrosive fallout. A support member is provided which supports the fixture in a suitable location within the corrosive environment and further locates the shielding means in a spaced apart relation from the housing and lens.
