ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A cable clamp utilizes a pair of mutually engageable and slidable tapered members. One of the members is a sleeve member and the other is a wedge member slidable and guidable in the sleeve member. A generally oblong shim member can be positioned between the sleeve and wedge members to engage a cable clamp therebetween so that the wedge member will slide on the shim rather than on the cable member during the clamping and unclamping actions. The shim has an elongated slot along one side thereof which will fit over a side of the sleeve member so that the shim can be easily tilted for appropriate insertion or removal of the cable prior to insertion or following removal of the wedge member.
