A metal device for attachment to the sloping roof of a building to provide support to persons working on the roof comprises a rectangular piece of flat aluminium plate to be attached to the roof, which has been bent so as to form a step to support a person's foot. The aluminium plate has tapered edges and is drilled through with 5 holes for screws to attach the plate to a roof. The step portion of the device is bent from the same piece of metal plate and extends perpendicularly from the plate for 2 inches, from which point the metal piece is bent back to form an additional flat surface on the plane of the attachment plate below the step. A series of these devices, attached to a sloping roof in line, one above the other, form a secure ladder for persons to move up and down the slope of the roof. Different types, sizes and shapes of roof ladders can be made by varying the number and/or placement of the devices, this distinguishing the invention from existing patented products.
Dispositif métallique se fixant au toit en pente d'un bâtiment pour servir de support aux personnes travaillant sur la toiture. Il comprend une pièce rectangulaire constituée d'une plaque d'aluminium plate fixée au toit, qui a été pliée de manière à former une marche pour supporter le pied d'une personne. La plaque d'aluminium comporte des bords biseautés et est percée de 5 trous pour les vis servant à fixer la plaque au toit. La partie en forme de marche du dispositif est pliée en utilisant la même pièce de métal et s'étend perpendiculairement à partir de la plaque sur 2 pouces, point à partir duquel la pièce métallique est repliée pour former une surface plane additionnelle dans le plan de la plaque de fixation sous la marche. Une série de ces dispositifs, en ligne, fixés à un toit en pente, l'une chevauchant l'autre, constitue une échelle stable pour permettre à des personnes de gravir la pente d'un toit et de redescendre celle-ci. Il est possible de fabriquer divers types, dimensions et formes d'échelles de toit en modifiant le nombre ou l'emplacement des dispositifs, ce qui distingue la présente invention des produits brevetés existants.
