The invention concerns a ship designed for use at high speed and heavy seas having a single long and slender hull with a narrow beam and a more or less vertical bow, whereby the front half of the hull has more or less vertical sides, minimal flare in the bow sections and towards the bow an increase in draught at its center line combined with a more or less similar increase of freeboard and whereby the aft end of the hull has a flat or slightly V-shaped bottom with one or more propellers and/or waterjets as propulsion means. In accordance with the invention the bow has a fillet radius of at least 1 % of the beam.

L'invention concerne un navire (1) pouvant être utilisé à grande vitesse et/ou dans des mers houleuses. Ce navire comprend : une coque simple longue et fuselée présentant une largeur étroite et une étrave plus ou moins verticale, la moitié avant de la coque possédant des côtés plus ou moins verticaux; un évasement minimal dans les sections de l'étrave et une augmentation du tirant d'eau vers l'étrave au niveau de sa ligne centrale combinée à une augmentation plus ou moins similaire du franc-bord; et une extrémité arrière (11) de la coque qui comprend une partie inférieure (7) plate ou légèrement en V pourvue d'une ou de plusieurs hélices (9) et/ou jets d'eau utilisés en tant que moyens de propulsion. Selon l'invention, l'étrave présente un rayon d'arrondi représentant au moins 1 % de la largeur.
