A laminated sleeve material for shipping containers is described as is a method of constructing a shipping container which employs the laminated material. The material includes a corrugated paperboard core substantially encapsulated by a plastic outer layer. The plastic outer layer is adhesively applied to the inner core to result in a high strength structure that is resistant to humid environments. The material is formed into a sleeve which is employed between a pair of pallets to form the walls of the shipping container.
