ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed is a shirred sausage casing of a web film in the form of a tubing which comprises a seam region, formed from the edge regions of the web film, which extends in a helically twisted manner about the longitudinal axis of the casing in a manner wherein more than 10 helical turns are present in a 10 m length of the casing. Also disclosed is a process for producing a casing of this type.
