ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved shirred stick of tubular film casing material is provided wherein the bore of the shirred portion of the stick is lined with an extended end length portion of unshirred tubing which is connected in leak-proof fashion to the filling horn of a filling apparatus. The improved stick protects against backflow of product into and through the shirred stick and prevents ingress of air into the package. The need to use dynamic seals to prevent product loss is eliminated.
