The invention relates to a shoe brake assembly, in particular for rail vehicles. Said assembly comprises at least one brake shoe (8), which may be applied to a wheel (4) of a vehicle for generating a braking force, a suspension system (11, 12, 15, 18, 19, 21) for said brake shoe (8), which may be attached to a chassis, and an operating device for actuating the at least one brake shoe (8). According to the invention, said at least one brake shoe (8) may be applied to a surface (7) of the wheel, facing radially inwards, for generating the braking force and may be actuated substantially outwards in the radial direction. Said brake shoe (8) is arranged, such that a wheel tread (6) is not submitted to a braking force. Thus, existent irregularities on the wheel tread (6) do not disadvantageously influence the braking effect and corrugations on the wheel tread (6) are avoided.

L'invention concerne un ensemble frein à sabots, en particulier pour véhicules sur rails. Cet ensemble comprend au moins un sabot (8) de frein, pouvant être appliqué sur une roue (4) d'un véhicule de manière à produire une force de freinage, une suspension (11, 12, 15, 18, 19, 21) pour ce sabot (8) de frein, laquelle suspension peut être reliée à un châssis, et un dispositif de commande conçu pour actionner ledit sabot (8) de frein. Selon la présente invention, ce sabot (8) de frein peut être appliqué sur une surface (7) de la roue, orientée vers l'intérieur dans le sens radial, de manière à produire ladite force de freinage, et peut être actionné sensiblement vers l'extérieur dans le sens radial. Ce sabot (8) de frein est agencé, de sorte qu'une surface de roulement (6) de la roue n'est pas soumise à cette force de freinage. Ainsi, des irrégularités présentes sur cette surface de roulement (6) n'altèrent pas l'effet de freinage et une usure ondulatoire sur cette surface (6) est évitée.
