A ship table is described which includes a base with two uprights extending substantially vertically from the base. A slide member is provided which includes two tubular sleeves held in parallel spaced relation by a transverse support member. Each of the tubular sleeves telescopically receives one of the uprights such that the slide member slides up and down the uprights. A table support structure extends substantially horizontally from the slide member. A generally rectangular table top is secured to the table support structure, such that the table top travels up and down with the slide member. A winch is secured to the base. A direction altering cable guide is positioned on a transverse support extending between the two uprights. A cable extends from the winch over the cable guide and is secured to the slide member. A driving force is provided by the winch via the cable to raise and lower the slide member, and the table which is secured by the table support structure thereto.
