A shopping cart and container apparatus and container apparatus is disclosed. The shopping cart includes an elongate wheeled base. At least two side frame members extend upwardly from the base. The frame members define a receiving structure to receive an engagement structure connected to the container. The frame members are adapted to support the container. The shopping cart also includes two transverse cross members connected to the side frame members to maintain the container in place. A handle is secured to the frame. The cart includes a plurality of connecting structures for connecting the base to the side frame members and the side frame members to the cross members for easy assembly and disassembly of the cart. The container includes a substantially rectangular bottom portion, a pair of opposed end walls extending from the bottom portion, and a pair of longer opposed side walls extending from the bottom portion. The end walls having an engagement structure connected to an outer surface thereof. The engagement structure being located a predetermined distance from the bottom portion. Two pivotable handles are connected to the side walls. Each handle has a support bracket connected thereto. The handles are movable between a nestable position and a stackable position, where in the nestable position, the support bracket permits an identical container to be nested within the container, and in the stackable position, the support bracket locates within a corresponding channel defined in the bottom portion of an identical container, thereby permitting the identical container to be securely stacked on top of the container.
