Abstract of the Disclosure Short-acting .beta.-blocking compounds of the formula Image wherein Y may be a straight or branched carbon chain or aralkylene; the Image group is in the ortho or para position on the phenyl ring with respect to the amine-containing side chain, and n is an integer of from 0 to about 2; R1 and R2, which may be the same or different, may be lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, lower alkynyl, aryl or aralkyl; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and process for making same.
