- 11 - ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A cardan joint is disclosed comprising a first fork (2) integral with an assembly flange, a second fork (4) integral with a shaft section (5) and a journal cross (6) whose four journals (7, 8) are mounted in twos on the two forks with interpositioning of needle bearings or similar. The flange (1), integral with one of its two forks (2), is formed axially with two through apertures (9) adapted to receive the arms of the other fork (4) when the bending angle of the joint is large. The choice of such a joint is particularly recommended for extra short vehicle transmissions equipped with electric retarders.
