An apparatus and method is described to form and join a short flange a periphery of a sheet material supported in a nest (30). The apparatus includes a positional pressure forming steel (PPFS) assembly (50) located on the end of a robotic arm (42). The PPFS assembly (50) includes a hub (52) slidably supported in a cylinder (56). At least one tool steel (70, 70~, 70~~) is located on an extension (68, 68~) from the hub (52). A biasing element (58) interposed between the cylinder (56) and the hub (52) enables precise control of the forming pressure by defining a tool path control program which maintains a relative relationship between the PPFS assembly (50) and the nest (30).
La présente invention a trait à un appareil et un procédé pour la formation et l'assemblage d'une bride courte d'une périphérie d'un matériau en feuille supporté dans un drageoir (30). L'appareil comporte un ensemble en acier de formation de pression de position (50) situé sur l'extrémité d'un bras robotique (42). L'ensemble en acier de formation de pression de position (50) comporte un moyeu (52) monté à coulissement dans un cylindre (56). Au moins un outil en acier (70, 70', 70'') est situé sur une saillie (68.68') à partir du moyeu (52). Un élément de sollicitation (58) interposé entre le cylindre (56) et le moyeu (52) permet le contrôle précis de la pression de formation par la définition d'un programme de commande de trajectoire d'outil qui maintient une relation mutuelle entre l'ensemble en acier de formation de pression de position (50) et le drageoir (30).
