A short-hole drill bit and short-hole drilling method in which a drill bit (10) has a unitary body (12) with a substantially V-shaped flute (22) and a support pad (30) are provided. The unitary body (12) has a shank portion (14) and a working portion (16). The flute (22) extends axially along the working portion (16), and defines a cutting edge (24) and a passive edge (26) at the body periphery (20). The support pad (30) is located along a portion of the body periphery (20). The support pad is located with respect to the cutting edge (24) based on a normal cutting force (60) and a tangential cutting force (62) at the cutting edge (24).
La présente invention concerne un foret pour trous de faible profondeur et son mode d'utilisation. Ce foret comporte un corps unitaire, une goujure en forme de V et une zone d'appui. Le corps unitaire comporte une partie tige et une partie travail. La goujure, qui se développe axialement le long de la partie de travail, définit un bord de coupe et un bord passif à la périphérie du corps de foret. La zone d'appui est disposée le long d'une partie périphérique du corps du foret. Son emplacement est déterminé en fonction d'une force de coupe normale et d'une force de coupe tangentielle au niveau du bord de coupe. La force de coupe résultante est dirigée vers la zone d'appui, ce qui fait que cette zone assure le centrage du foret pendant le perçage.
