An apparatus and method to deskew sheets in a short paper path in an electrophotographic printing machine by differentially driving two sets of rolls so as to create a paper buckle buffer zone in the sheet and then differentially driving a roll set to correct the skew while the sheet is still within the nips of multiple drive roll sets. Contrary to stalled roll techniques, leading edge damage to sheets is eliminated as the deskewing rolls are initially traveling at the same velocity as the sheet.

Appareil et méthode pour réaligner les feuilles dans un parcours de papier de faible longueur dans une machine d'impression électro photographique, par entraînement différentiell de deux jeux de rouleaux de manière à créer une zone de tampon de plissement de papier pour ensuite entraîner, en différentiel, un jeu de rouleaux afin de corriger l'écart angulaire pendant que la feuille se trouve toujours entre les rouleaux pinceurs de trains de rouleaux multiples. Contrairement aux techniques du rouleau immobile, les dommages aux bords avant des feuilles sont éliminés étant donné que les rouleaux de réalignement se déplacent initialement à la même vitesse que la feuille.
