TITLE SHORT RADIATION PULSE GENERATION INVENTORS Orson L. Bourne A. John Alcock ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Laser pulse generation techniques are disclosed in which two competing non-linear processes, e.g. stimulated Brillouin scattering and laser-induced breakdown are employed in combination to generate a short laser pulse. Narrow linewidth UV radiation amplified to the millijoule level in a XeCl discharge module has been used to generate pulses of less than 200 picoseconds in duration.
