A release-fire trigger mechanism in which a catch on a vertical slide engages an arm on a hammer, once cocked, from underneath the arm. Pulling the trigger translates the slide upwardly so that the catch engages the arm. Releasing the trigger lowers the catch, releasing the arm so as to allow the hammer to rotate forwardly into the firing pin.
