A shoulder strap which encircles the shoulder, and closes to form a loop at the bottom to accommodate the carriaqe of one or more personal communication devices. The strap is equipped with pouches or horizontal members, or combinations of these to allow the carriage of pagers , portable wireless telephones or hand-held radios directly below the shoulder of the wearer to enable ease of reach with either hand. The shoulder strap is fixed in length for support and has resilient sections to enhance body fit, and comfort of movement when worn. Extended from the shoulder strap at a fixed point near the top of the shoulder is an adjustable and pliant retaining strap which crosses the back, extends over the opposite shoulder, down the front of the shoulder and under to the back again, then across the back to return to the shoulder strap, thru an adjustment and elastic member, to a fixed point lower than the original starting point. Similarly, the restraining strap may be routed from the upper tie down location across the back and under the arm, up in front and over the shoulder across the back to the lower position on the shoulder strap. This cross-over creates less stress behind the neck of the wearer when heavier personal communication devices are being worn. The personal communication device pouch may be attached at the intersection of the front and back members of the shoulder strap, at a point directly below the shoulder supporting it, a few inches above the waist line of the wearer. A horizontal member or strap in the same area and higher up near the shoulder will accommodate a pager and/or a pouch equipped with a clip. A pliant and adjustable tie down strap is suspended from the lower extremity of the shoulder strap in such a way as to form a loop about a belt if the wearer has one, or to accommodate a suspender type clip for attaching to a waistband or other clothing device. The shoulder strap is thus designed to bring the personal communication devices close to the center of the wearer, for ease of reach and ease of detection, especially for northern climates where winter clothing may be left open at the front to allow use and improve the hearing of incoming calls as compared to existing designs. This will also expand in scope in high noise level areas as will be discussed later.
