ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A showerhead is disclosed, which has a water chamber closed by a plate having a series of water ports through which an equal number of valve plugs slidably fit to control water flow through the ports. The valve plugs are held in the chamber by a radial header at one end of a displacing member which also comprises a sleeve portion that projects out of the chamber. The header and plugs are moved by an operating member which is mounted for rotation only around the sleeve projecting portion. Mounted within the sleeve is a water conducting stem which has one end secured to the chamber closing plate and which is constructed to allow flow of water into the chamber. The stem is constructed to prevent reciprocation of the operating member along the central sleeve. A pair of parallel helical grooves formed on the outer surface of the central sleeve. Finally, follower pins are provided on the operating member, each pin projecting into one of the helical grooves. In this manner, as the operating member is rotated relative to the central sleeve and to the chamber, the pins ride along the helical grooves between their ends and allow the displacing member to be reciprocated linearly so as to allow the valve plugs to control water flow through the ports.
