ABSTRACT The invention provides a process for packaging a product article such 25 neat, in a plastics bag (1) by injecting a hot gas, in this case steam, into the bag interior from behind the product article (2) using a nozzle (3) to flush air (at 5) from the bag (1) and to impart shrinking heat to the material forming the bag. When using steam, or another vapour capable of condensing at atmospheric pressure above room temperature the condensing of the vapour effects evacuation of the bag interior.
