ABSTRACT A unit for a shrinkage joint assembly for installation in construction slabs particularly poured in place concrete and prefabricated concrete slabs for use as floors, walls, ceilings, tunnels, etc. and where the shrinkage joint assembly is mounted at the working surface of and between pairs of such slabs. The assembly comprises of pair of the units one adjacent each slab with an elastomeric bead bridging and coupling the units together. The units are longitudinally extending and each has a first longitudinally extending recess for receiving the bead, a second longitudinally extending recess with ribbed walls for receiving screw threaded members for vertical adjustment of the unit, and a third longitudinally extending recess for anchoring means to be imbedded in the adjacent slab. A marking groove is formed on the surface of the unit so that holes can be drilled into the second recess for receiving screw threaded members from above for vertical adjustment and prestressing of the unit.
