Abstract New side-chain homologous vitamin D derivatives of formula I Image (I), are described, in which R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 and R6 have the meaning given in the description, B and D mean either a hydrogen atom each or, together, a second bond (E-configured double bond) and either A means a direct bond between carbon atoms 20 and 22 and X means an alkylene oxy radical -(CH2)nO- with n = 1 to 3 or A means a methylene bridge (-CH2-) between carbon atoms 20 and 22 and X means an alkylene radical -(CH2)n- or an alkylene oxy radical -(CH2)nO- with n = 1 to 3, or if A stands for a direct Image bond and B and D together stand for a second bond, means one of radicals -CH2-O-CH2-? -(CH2)2- or -(CH2)2 , and a process for their production, pharmaceutical preparations that contain this compound and their use for the production of pharmaceutical agents. The new compounds have a proliferation-inhibiting and cell- differentiating effect.
