A device for placing transversely aligned spacing-sticks onto a top surface of a lumber stack. The device having a longitudinally translatable conveyor with stick supporting hooks depending therefrom, the conveyor and the supporting hooks adapted to convey longitudinally the spacing-sticks extending transversely across the conveyor and the stack of lumber, having stick transferring means for transferring the spacing-sticks from the stick supporting hooks to the upper surface of the lumber stack. The stick transferring means having a first and a second vertically translatable frame, the second vertically translatable frame selectively longitudinally translatable relative to the first vertically translatable frame. The second vertically translatable frame further having capture means for capturing opposed ends of a spacing-stick being translated longitudinally by the conveyor, the capture means having means for releasing the opposed ends of the spacing-stick so as to deposit the spacing-stick onto the upper surface of the lumber stack when the first and second translatable frames are in a lowered position.
Cette invention concerne un dispositif servant à placer des liteaux d'espacement en travers de la surface supérieure d'un empilage de bois d'oeuvre. Le dispositif comprend un transporteur se déplaçant dans le sens de la longueur de l'empilage et comportant des crochets porte-liteau suspendus, le transporteur et les crochets étant adaptés pour faire avancer les liteaux le long de l'empilage. Le dispositif comprend un moyen pour faire passer les liteaux des crochets porte-liteau à la surface supérieure de l'empilage. Ce moyen se compose d'un premier et d'un second bâtis mobiles en hauteur, le second pouvant être animé d'un mouvement longitudinal par rapport au premier. Le second bâti comporte en outre des moyens de préhension des deux extrémités opposées des liteaux déplacés le long de l'empilage, lesdits moyens de préhension ayant un mécanisme de desserrage servant à libérer lesdites extrémités opposées des liteaux pour qu'ils se déposent sur l'empilage de bois d'oeuvre lorsque les deux bâtis sont en position basse.
