A sideward ignition apparatus for a barbeque grill includes a sideward burner head, and an ignition mechanism. The sideward burner head includes a support seat, a gas conveyor connector, a hollow gas conducting pipe, a front frame, at least one ceramic board, and a front wind shield hood. The ignition mechanism includes an igniter, a conducting wire, a constant fire nozzle, and a guide pipe. Thus, when the flame from the gas conducting pipe of the sideward burner head extinguishes due to a larger wind, the constant fire nozzle of the ignition mechanism produces a constant fire (or mother fire) so as to maintain stability of the flame.
