A siding panel assembly comprising a siding panel (4) having a substantially planar member (30) having an upper portion angled outwardly and a pair of first apertures (50) proximate a lateral edge (36, 38) of the substantially planar member. A flange (54) with a pair of notches (62) extends from the substantially planar member and terminates in a lip (56) extending downwardly from a rear edge of the flange. A recess (58) is formed in a rear surface (60) of the substantially planar member. A first insulating panel (70) is secured to the siding panel. A splicing member (10) includes a first substantially planar member (12), a pair of flanges (18), a shoulder (20) extending inwardly from the first substantially planar member, a second substantially planar member (22) extending downwardly, and a pair of projections (26). A second insulating panel (74) is secured to a rear surface of the splicing member.
