A spacer (10) and a method for its use in an outer wall of a building between the outer vertical surface of its underlying structure and the inner surfaces of each of the portions of overlapped lengths of siding (16) through which the lengths of siding are nailed to the underlying structure to provide a ventilation space between the rear surfaces of the lengths of siding and the outer surface of the underlying structure . The spacers each have a planer rear surface (22) adapted to be positioned against the outer surface of the underlying structure, and a planer front surface portion (24) that can be disposed at a small acute angle with respect to the rear surface at which angle it is desired to have the rear surfaces of the lengths of siding disposed with respect to the outer surface of the underlying structure. Ventilation channels (20) can be provided at both the lower and upper ends of the ventilation space to facilitate movement of air to the atmosphere from such a ventilation space .

L'invention concerne une entretoise et un procédé pour son utilisation dans un mur extérieur d'un bâtiment entre la surface verticale extérieure de sa structure sous-jacente et les surfaces intérieures de chacune des parties de longueurs à recouvrement du parement au travers desquelles les longueurs du parement sont clouées sur la structure sous-jacente pour mettre en AEuvre un espace de ventilation entre les surfaces arrière des longueurs de parement et la surface extérieure de la structure sous-jacente. Les entretoises ont chacune une surface arrière plane conçue pour être positionnée contre la surface extérieure de la structure sous-jacente, et une partie de surface avant plane qui peut être disposée selon un petit angle aigu par rapport à la surface arrière, angle auquel on souhaite que les surfaces arrière des longueurs de parement soient disposées par rapport à la surface extérieure de la structure sous-jacente. Des conduits de ventilation peuvent être mis en AEuvre à la fois au niveau de l'extrémité inférieure et de l'extrémité supérieure de l'espace de ventilation pour faciliter le mouvement de l'air vers l'atmosphère à partir d'un tel espace de ventilation.
