A device for generating a binaural signal based on a multi-channel signal representing a plurality of channels and intended for reproduction by a speaker configuration having a virtual sound source position associated to each channel, is described. It comprises a correlation reducer for differently processing, and thereby reducing a correlation between, at least one of a left and a right channel of the plurality of channels, a front and a rear channel of the plurality of channels, and a center and a noncenter channel of the plurality of channels, in order to obtain an inter- similarity reduced set of channels; a plurality of directional filters, a first mixer for mixing outputs of the directional filters modeling the acoustic transmission to the first ear canal of the listener, and a second mixer for mixing outputs of the directional filters modeling the acoustic transmission to the second ear canal of the listener. According to another aspect, a center level reduction for forming the downmix for a room processor is performed. According to even another aspect, an inter-similarity decreasing set of head- related transfer functions is formed.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif utilisé pour générer un signal binaural sur la base d'un signal multivoie représentant une pluralité de voies et conçu pour la reproduction par une configuration de hauts-parleurs ayant une position de source sonore virtuelle associée à chaque voie. On utilise un réducteur de corrélation pour effectuer un traitement différent et réduire ainsi une corrélation entre, au moins une voie entre une voie gauche et une voie droite parmi les multiples voies, une voie avant et une voie arrière parmi les multiples voies et une voie centrale et une voie non centrale parmi les multiples voies, afin d'obtenir un ensemble de voies à inter-similarité réduite; une pluralité de filtres directifs, un premier mélangeur qui mélange les sorties des filtres directifs modélisant l'émission acoustique pour le premier conduit auditif de l'auditeur et un second mélangeur qui mélange les sorties des filtres directifs modélisant l'émission acoustique pour le second conduit auditif de l'auditeur. Selon un autre aspect, une réduction du niveau central pour former le mixage réducteur pour un processeur d'ambiance est réalisée. Selon un autre aspect, un ensemble à inter-similarité décroissante de fonctions de transfert liées à la tête est formé.
