SIGNAL LAMP WITH LIGHT EMITTING DIODE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A signal lamp has a housing with one or more openings for discrete light emitting diodes mounted on a common plate-like carrier which is releasably secured to the housing by several detent members. The carrier is provided with a printed or otherwise applied circuit, and that side thereof which faces away from the diode or diodes is provided with electric terminals for connection of the diode or diodes to a source of electrical energy. The thickness of the signal lamp, as considered in the axial direction of the diode or diodes, is a fraction of the thickness of conventional signal lamps. This renders the improved signal lamp particularly suitable for use in switchboards, control panels and the like wherein the housing is releasably held by springy detent members. Reduced thickness of the housing is attributed to the feature that the carrier is a plate, that it supports a circuit which occupies a minimum of space, that the terminals are accessible at the rear side of the carrier, and that the plane of the carrier is parallel to the plane or planes of the opening or openings for one or more diodes.
