ABSTRACT A signal light column (1) having light sections arranged one above another. The light sections consist of transparent housing sections (4, 5) with inserts (7, 8). The inserts are provided with electrical conductors (10, 10') which are connected to the conductors of the next insert below them, or of the pedestal (3) of the column. The inserts are also equipped with sockets for the lamps of the signal lights, and the said sockets are also connected with the strip conductors. The inserts (7, 8) are joined together to form a unit and the housing sections (4, 5) are also joined together to form a unit. A further characterizing feature of the invention is in that the insert unit formed by the individual inserts is removable through the top of the housing. Such a design considerably simplifies any repair work which needs to be performed on the inserts and when replacing the lamps. Similarly, it avoids the risk of the sequence of colours in the signal light column becoming mixed up.
