(54) Title: SIGNAL-PROCESSING SYSTEM (54) Bezeichnang: SIGNALVERARBEITUNGSSYS (57) Abstract A video signal with 1250 lines, line inter- lacing and 100 Hz picture frequency, tran- scoded from a video signal with 1250 lines, line interlacing and 50 Hz picture frequency is free from extensive flickering. However, interfer- ences due to a moving interference pattern may occur independently of the content of the pic- ture. By transcoding the video signal with 1250 lines, line interlacing and 50 Hz picture fre- quency in function of the movement into a video signal with 900 lines without line interlac- ing and 75 Hz picture frequency, extensive flickering is avoided and the moving interfer- ence pattern is appreciably reduced, with the same vertical resolution and approximately the same line frequency. Application to digital im- age-signal processing.
