A television receiver system having PIP capability includes two NTSC tuners (124, 126) and signal processing arrangements (134, 143, 145, 136, 140, 142), and an HDTV tuner (122) and signal processing arrangement (132, 160, 162). In order to accomplish a CHANNEL SWAP function, a controller (180) searches a table for data indicative of pairing of NTSC channels and HDTV channels, the NTSC channel associated with the main channel HDTV source is tuned by the PIP NTSC tuner (126), and the HDTV channel associated with the PIP NTSC source is tuned by the HDTV tuner (122). If the inset image (205) has no paired HDTV channel then the second NTSC tuner (124) is controlled to select the channel formerly tuned by the PIP NTSC tuner (126).
Système récepteur de télévision possédant un circuit PIP (image-dans-image) et comprenant deux syntoniseurs classiques (NTSC) (124, 126), ainsi que des dispositifs de traitement de signaux (134, 143, 145, 136, 140, 142), un syntoniseur haute définition (HDTV) et un dispositif de traitement de signaux (132, 160, 162). Afin de remplir une fonction de permutation de canal (Channel Swap), un contrôleur (180) recherche dans une table des données indiquant l'appariement de canaux classiques et de canaux haute définiton, le canal classique associé à la source principale de canal haute définition est syntonisé par le syntoniseur classique PIP (126) et le canal haute définition associé à la source classique PIP est syntonisé par le syntoniseur haute définition (122).
