Method and system for signing state information between a web server and a client web browser. The state information is received from a web application by a application firewall functionally separate from the web application. A secret key to the state information is added. The state information with the secret key is hashed to obtain a cryptographic hash value. A signature is obtained by signing the hash value and sent sending to the client web browser.
