L'invention concerne une alumine stabilisée par de la silice conservant une surface spécifique élevée à haute température. Elle présente un point isoélectrique supérieur à 7 et un faible pouvoir isomérisant des oléfines. L'invention concerne également un procédé de préparation de cette alumine stabilisée, à partir d'une poudre d'alumine issue de la déshydratation rapide d'un hydroxyde ou oxyhydroxyde d'aluminium, dans lequel ladite poudre est réhydratée en présence d'un composé du silicium puis soumise à un traitement thermique. L'invention concerne en outre l'usage de cette alumine stabilisée comme support de catalyseur.
