A silicon nanoparticle is provided by the invention. The nanoparticle has unique properties. It is a source of stimulated emissions, may be suspended in liquids, and solids. It can be formed into crystals, clusters, colloids and films. The nanoparticle of the invention is dimensioned on an order of magnitude of one nanometer and not exceeding about two nanometers. The method for producing the silicon nanoparticle of the invention is a gradual advancing electrochemical etch of bulk silicon. Separation of nanoparticles from the surface of the silicon may also be conducted. Once separated, various methods may be employed to form nanoparticles into colloids, crystals, films and other desirable forms. The particles may also be coated or doped. Image

L'invention concerne une nanoparticule de silicium. La nanoparticule a des propriétés uniques. C'est une source d'émissions stimulées. Elle peut être en suspension dans un liquide ou dans un solide.
