SILICONE GEL-FILLED SILICONE RUBBER ARTICLE POSSESSING REDUCED SURFACE-BLEED Abstract A silicone gel-filled silicone rubber article which is a flexible silicone rubber container filled with a silicone gel composition containing an essentially continuous barrier layer of a fluorine-containing organopolysiloxane situated between the container wall and the silicone gel composition to reduce the tendency of unreacted components present in the silicone gel to exude or bleed to the surface of the article. Optimum reduction in bleed is observed when both the container and the gel are principally composed of polydimethylsiloxanes. An alternative embodiment is a flexible fluorosilicone rubber container filled with a silicone gel composition. These articles are useful as external mammary prostheses and as surgically implantable articles.
