SILICONE GELS AND METHOD OF MAKING ABSTRACT A method of making a gel by mixing at least about eighty-five percent by weight of a polysiloxane having a viscosity in excess of one thousand mm2/s with a primary nonionic surfactant having an HLB value of 1.8-15. The mixture is heated at a temperature of 20-100°C. while simultaneously subjecting the mixture to shearing at high speed. There is added to the mixture 2-10 percent by weight of water, followed by the addition of a secondary nonionic surfactant having an HLB value of 10-19. The application of heat and high speed shearing is continued and a gel is formed by discontinuing shearing of the mixture and allowing the mixture to cool to a temperature of 35-40°C.
