This invention involves the conversion of an aqueous dispersion of silicon to a fire-resistant elastomer by cross-linking brought about by the elimination of water. It consists of 100 parts of an oil-in-water emulsion (A) of an .alpha.,.omega.-(dihydroxy) polydiorganosiloxane with a viscosity of at least 100 mPa.s at 25 degrees Celsius, stabilized by an anionic and/or non-ionic surfactant, 0.1 to 100 parts of a crosslinking agent, 10 to 150 parts of hydrated borax, 5 to 100 parts of a non-siliceous mineral filler if required, 0.01 to 3 parts of a metallic hardening compound if required. Such dispersions are useful in fire-resistant, silicon elastomer seals, particularly in buildings. The invention also involves a procedure for preparing this type of aqueous dispersion.
La présente invention concerne une dispersion aqueuse de silicone, réticulant en un élastomère résistant à la flamme par élimination de l'eau comportant: 100 parties d'une émulsion (A) du type huile-dans-eau d'un .alpha.,.omega.-(dihydroxy) polydiorganosiloxane ayant une viscosité d'au moins 100 mPa.s à 25°C, stabilisée par un tensio-actif anionique et/ou non-ionique, 0,1 à 100 parties d'un agent de réticulation, 10 à 150 parties de borax hydraté, éventuellement 5 à 100 parties d'une charge minérale non siliceuse, éventuellement 0,01 à 3 parties d'un composé métallique catalytique de durcissement. Ces dispersions sont utiles pour la réalisation de joints élastomères silicones résistant à la flamme, en particulier pour le bâtiment. L'invention concerne également un procédé pour la préparation d'une dispersion aqueuse telle que définie précédemment.
