Abstract of the Disclosure A silo has a device for discharging bulk material from the silo, the bulk material being composed of particles varying in size up to a maximum diameter. The silo comprises a floor having a plurality of discharge openings and a scraper movable over an entire upper surface of the floor. Each of the discharge openings is sufficiently large to allow passage of particles of the maximum diameter when the particles move with respect to the floor but which is sufficiently small to allow the bulk material to form bridges over the openings when the particles are stationary. The discharge openings are spaced apart from each other by a distance which precludes significant compaction of the bulk material by the scraper and which assures that a front edge of the scraper will always be disposed proximate at least one discharge opening. This ensures that the bulk material will be constantly discharged from at least one of the discharge openings when the scraper is moving over the floor so that new material is constantly contacting the front surface of the scraper. -22-
