Abstract of the Disclosure A polysiloxane containing a novolak residue corresponding to the formula Image wherein each A is a novolak residue, a C1-C8 alkyl, C6-C12 aryl or C7-C12 alkyl aryl group, each R is a C1-C8 alkyl, C6-C18 cycloalkyl, C6-C12 aryl or C7-C12 alkyl aryl group, and n is a number of from 3 to 100 provided that at least one A is a novolak residue, can be produced by reacting a respective substituted polysiloxane with a phenol-formaldehyde and/or cresol- formaldehyd novolak resin in presence of an acid trans- esterification catalyst at temperatures of from 110 to 180°C.
