Abstract of the Disclosure A silver halide color photographic material is dis- closed which has at least one silver halide emulsion layer on a support, said silver halide emulsion layer containing at least one magenta coupler having the follow- ing formula: Image wherein R1 is a tertiary alkyl group; R2 is a secondary or tertiary alkyl group, X is a leaving group other than a hydrogen atom that leaves upon reaction with the oxida- tion product of a color developing agent.
