An improved approach for implementing depth-based gain control is implemented by adjusting the gain at each depth in the image based on a family of stored curves, with each curve in the family specifying the gain adjustment for all depths as a function of depth. A user interface enables the user to select an entire curve at once (as opposed to the prior art approach of using a set of individually and independently adjustable gain controls for each depth range). The selected curve is then used to modify the gain adjustment provided by the default time gain compensation (TGC) curve.

L'invention concerne un procédé amélioré d'exécution d'une commande de gain de profondeur par réglage du gain au niveau de chaque profondeur de l'image en fonction d'une famille de courbes stockées, chaque courbe de la famille spécifiant le réglage de gain pour toutes les profondeurs en fonction de la profondeur. Une interface utilisateur permet à l'utilisateur de sélectionner une courbe entière en une seule fois (contrairement à l'approche de l'état de la technique consistant à utiliser un ensemble de commandes de gain réglable demanière individuelle et indépendante pour chaque niveau de profondeur). La courbe sélectionnée est alors utilisée pour modifier le réglage de gain fourni par la courbe de compensation de gain temporel par défaut (TGC).
