Simplified Radial Magnetic Bearing ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The design and arrangement of a magnetic bearing for use in rotary machines is disclosed. The magnetic bearing contains magnets circumferentially spaced about the axis of rotation of a shaft and support the shaft while allowing rotation of the shaft within the bearing. The magnetic bearing is characterized by having at least one sector of the bearing applying a steady force to the shaft and at least two controllable sectors providing a modulated force to the shaft. - 1 -
